Brooke USA On The Road
About Eventing, The Royals and More
About Eventing, The Royals and More is an informative chat with Jane Holderness-Roddam, an appointed Brooke USA Ambassador, Board Member Jim Hamilton, DVM, and Brooke USA Ambassador Tik Maynard. Jane Holderness-Roddam was a child rider and became the first female eventer to compete at the Olympic level for the British Team. Jane has served as a lady-in-waiting for Princess Anne for more than 30 years, built a career as a nurse and authored more than 20 books about equine management, from Boots and Bandages to Rugs and Rollers. She serves a unique role for Brooke USA, having been assigned as Special Ambassador to Brooke USA by sister organization, The Brooke. Jim Hamilton, DVM, Board Member/Treasurer for Brooke USA, is a partner in the Southern Pines Equine Associates Veterinary Practice. He has been both Veterinarian of the Year and Board Member for the NCVMA . He is a member of Safety Committee for the US Eventing Association and the US Equestrian Federation, as well as an FEI Veterinary Delegate. Tik Maynard is a long-time equestrian with an extensive background in various disciplines. He is a sought-after clinician who specializes in building confidence for horses and riders. His book, In The Middle Are the Horsemen, is a study of horses and human nature. These three Brooke USA stakeholders give insight into the organization and their experiences working in their roles.
The mission of Brooke USA is to significantly improve the welfare of working horses, donkeys and mules and the people they serve throughout Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas and the Caribbean by raising funds and responsibly directing them to the areas of greatest need. Brooke USA accomplishes this through a holistic approach to funding which includes capacity building, sustainability programming, female empowerment and international advocacy. Brooke USA connects private philanthropists with their passion for helping relieve the suffering of working equines and their owners. Brooke USA raises funds to support a wide variety of programs for working horses, donkeys and mules to help them become (and remain) healthy and happy, now and in the long-term, which also benefits the poor families who depend on those animals to help them earn a living.
